1.词语 (科技类词语肯定注重科技对社会的积极影响, 主要是方便和效率)convenience, efficiency, innovation, labor force productivity, competitive, high value-added, revolutionize, unprecedented, transform, facilitate, give rise to, far-reaching, driving force
scientific and technological development has brought about unprecedented changes to our societies比如这样的空洞评价, 意义不大的。。。

Education carries the sense of a kind of learningestablishing set-up where people are taught or trained in their minds, characters and abilities.
Culture is a part of our life which involves thecustoms, beliefs, art, music, and all the other products of human thought madeby a particular group of people at a particular time.
I see two kinds of pressure working on college students today:economic pressure, parental pressure.
It is easy to look around for villains—to blame the colleges forcharging too much money, the parents for pushing theirchildren too far. But there are no villains, only victims.
The pressure is heavy on students who just want to graduate andget a job.
Long gone are the days when students journeyed through collegewith a certain relaxation, sampling a wide variety ofcourses that would send them out as liberally educated men and women.
If I were an employer I would rather employ graduates who havethis range and curiosity than those who narrowly pursued safe subjects and highgrades. I know countless students whose inquiring minds exhilarate me. I like to hear the play of their ideas. I don’t care. I don’t know if they are getting As or Cs. and I don’t care. I also like them as people. The country needs them, and they will findsatisfying jobs. I tell them to relax. They can’t.
Nor can I blame them. They live in a brutal economy.
Today it is not unusual for a student, even if he works parttime at college and full time during the summer, to accrue $5000 in loans after graduation.

Along with economic pressure goes parental pressure. Inevitably, the two are deeply intertwined.
Poor students. They are caught in one of theoldest webs of love and duty and guilt. The parents mean well;they are trying to steer their sons and daughters toward a securefuture. But the sons and daughters toward a secure future. But the sons and daughters want to major in history or classics orphilosophy—subjects with no ‘practical’ value. Where’s the payoff onthe humanities? It’s not easy to persuade such loving parents that thehumanities do indeed pay off. The intellectual facultiesdeveloped by studying subjects like history and classics are just the facultiesthat make creative leaders in business or almost any general field.
